Payroll & pay
Payroll software that pays from approved time
Pay calculated from the time that was actually approved. Pay flows from approved attendance, with statutory deductions held as rules you review, not hard-wired. Different people prepare, approve and pay.
The most common payroll errors start before payroll: hours that were never approved, rates that were changed without a record, deductions typed in by hand. Kinetic VOC calculates pay from the attendance that was actually approved, using rates and rules that are versioned and reviewed.
Different people prepare, approve and record payment, so no one person can create, approve and release the same pay. Every amendment after a run is locked is tracked, and every payslip can be opened by the person it belongs to.
What you can do with payroll software
Pay from approved time
Approved attendance becomes the pay basis, with allowances and overtime rules applied the same way every time.
Day rate, pay components and overtime
Define pay components, which of them count toward statutory deductions, and how overtime is calculated for each agreement.
Statutory deductions as rules you review
Deductions are held as rules with their own approval, not hard-wired into the code, so a change in law is a reviewed change in a rule.
Payslips people can open themselves
Each person sees their own payslips and pay history, and only their own.
Locks and tracked amendments
Once a run is locked it stays locked. A correction is a separate, attributed amendment with a reason.
Separation of duties
Preparing, approving and paying are different permissions held by different people, by design.
How it works
Agree compensation and rules
Record each person’s pay agreement and set the allowance, overtime and deduction rules that apply.
Prepare the run from approved time
Create the run for the period. Pay is calculated from approved attendance, with exceptions listed for review.
Approve, pay and release payslips
A second person approves, payment is recorded, and payslips are released to each person.
At a glance
- Pay from approved time, allowances and overtime rules
- Statutory deductions as reviewed, approved rules
- Payslips, locks and tracked amendments
- Separation of duties built into every run
Questions about this area
Where do the hours in a payroll run come from?
From attendance that a supervisor has approved. Recorded times are kept as evidence and are never replaced by scheduled hours.
Can one person run payroll end to end?
Not unless the organisation gives one person all three permissions. Preparing, approving and paying are separate so a second pair of eyes is the default.
Are statutory deductions fixed in the software?
No. They are rules your organisation reviews and approves, so they can change when the law or your agreements change.
Who uses it
The same area is put to work differently in different organisations.
Hospitals & medical services
Roster day and night shifts, block anyone whose licence or certificate has lapsed, and keep ambulances and equipment checked and serviced, in one system.
Retail & hospitality
Publish rosters, let staff swap or pick up open shifts, approve attendance once so pay follows, and pay suppliers against matched orders and invoices.
Transport & logistics
Roster drivers against posts and locations, record vehicle checks, defects and service history, and see cost by vehicle and fuel use over time.
Contractors & field services
Plan crews around site work, track attendance, know which vehicles and equipment are safe to use, and match supplier invoices to orders before paying.
